Swansea Channel Outing

We had 12 members sign up for this trip and the target as usual was anything pelagic, whether that be salmon, bonito etc. The wind was blowing SE. The rain was pouring down and the temperature sat at around 14 degrees, but it would not be A CCFR outing if we didn't have one or more of those things happening! On the up side the swell wasn't up which made it a lot more comfortable for heading out the front.
The target species was Australian Salmon which usually frequent the channel in the winter months, but interestingly this year the warmer season pelagics were around and the guys managed Frigates, Bonito, Pike and salmon, plus snapper. The successful flies were the usual surf candies and clousers... these flies rarely fail on the pelagics.

There were several sightings of whales heading north and seals that often hunt the salmon schools. Sometimes it's hard to get whole fish back to the boat because the seals take them.
Congratulations to Terry Kennedy on getting his first Frigate Mackeral on fly!
After the fishing everyone went back to Steve's place for the customary BBQ and to warm up / thaw out. Thanks to Steve for putting on the BBQ.
